Job Description/Responsibilities:
Pingree School is seeking candidates for the Assistant Director of Athletics for Athletics Operations position for the 2018-19 academic year. This is an exempt, 12-month position, that directly reports to the Director of Athletics & Afternoon Programs. This position will be responsible for assisting the Director of Athletics & Afternoon Programs in managing the day-to-day operations of the Department of Athletics at Pingree School within the context of a day school committed to promoting health and wellness, citizenship, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Pingree is a member of the Eastern Independent League, the Evergreen League (football) and the Holt league (hockey).

In addition, the position may include coaching one or two seasons of a sport. The successful candidate must exhibit a passion for athletics and a commitment to working with adolescents. He/she should have proven experience communicating with multiple constituents. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Coordinate the athletics schedule with regards to games and practices for all teams in partnership with coaches and AD; when relevant, communicate schedule changes and assist in coordination and execution of playoff games
Management of athletics facilities in collaboration with Building & Grounds team, including setting up gym and fields for practices and games; oversight of field layout and requirements; field/gym breakdown and equipment storage; identifying ongoing needs related Pingree’s athletics facilities
Direct game event management including identifying and coordinating game officials (i.e. timers, scorers), assigning fields/courts and team rooms, and supporting coaches and teams as needed
In partnership with Head Athletics Trainer, manage equipment operations including purchasing, maintenance and inventory of athletics supplies, uniforms, and protective equipment
Schedule and staff auxiliary rentals for athletics center, weld gym and athletics fields; responsible for coordinating with and billing renters and communicating schedule, set up/breakdown needs, and budget projections. Participate in weekly operations meeting school wide.
Communicate with off-site facilities including anticipating needs and tracking availability of space and rental fees
Assist in the promotion of Pingree Athletics programs including but not limited to providing content and support for the athletics website and social media channels and helping with additional sports information needs
Collaborate with league and non-league schools to develop strong partnerships and best practices for the athletics and afternoon program
Other duties as assigned; evening and weekend work will be expected at times.

Certification Required: No
Minimum Experience: 3-5 Years

Qualifications and Skills Required for Position:
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in athletics administration, coaching, and playing interscholastic athletics preferred
Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to prioritize daily tasks and work in a fast-paced environment; must possess strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; must be proficient in use of technology
Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed with a proven ability to collaborate with various constituencies
Self-starter and proactive in identifying solutions and areas of opportunity
Experience working with and supporting students and coaches and an understanding of the role of athletics in supporting the broader goals of the institution
Commitment to working collegially in a diverse community and communicating effectively with a diverse population
