Led by Superintendent Kaweeda G.Adams, the City School District of Albany and its more than 1,600 faculty and staff strive to provide an academically challenging, safe and welcoming experience for all students.
The district serves nearly 9,700 students in 18 schools: 12 elementary schools, three middle schools, an alternative-education program for middle- and high-school students, the Albany International Center serving refugee and immigrant students in grades 6-12, and Albany High School, a comprehensive high school with a career and technical center.
Albany High features four themed academies, the prestigious International Baccalaureate program and one of the largest selections of Advanced Placement courses offered in the Capital Region.
At the elementary level, the district offers full-day prekindergarten at every school and at several community locations, and outstanding school-choice options that include three theme-based magnet elementary schools, the Dual Language Program and open enrollment options across the district.
