The Bullis School is located on a beautiful, spacious 80-acre wooded campus in Potomac, Maryland, about 12 miles from the nation’s capital. The Bullis School is convenient to the District of Columbia, Maryland suburbs, and most northern Virginia communities. This central location provides ready access to the rich resources of the metropolitan area.
The school has a proud heritage. Founded in 1930 by Cmdr. William F. Bullis in downtown Washington, D.C., Bullis was originally established as a preparatory school for the United States Naval Academy. Having outgrown its city facility, the school moved to Silver Spring, MD, in 1934, and subsequently became a four-year college preparatory program. Since then, Bullis has evolved into an independent, co-educational college preparatory school enrolling students in grades 3 through 12.
