For nearly 40 years, the Klingenstein Center for Independent School Leadership at Columbia University's Teachers College has prepared talented and highly motivated individuals to become transformative leaders in education. The Center’s _five programs aspire to develop and renew leaders at all stages of their career. The focus on developing leadership behavior shaped by values and character prepares alumni to take on the challenge of leadership regardless of the position they occupy. Students are taught by world class professors who exhibit a genuine passion for teaching and the subjects they teach. They benefit from meaningful discussion with a cohort of dedicated colleagues in a setting infused with the rich academic and cultural resources of Columbia University and New York City. We aim to create an inclusive environment where diversity enriches the experience for everyone.
Through the accomplishments of alumni, the Klingenstein Center has established a reputation as the premier educational leadership program for the independent and international school sector. The alumni network of almost 4000 educators extends to 49 U.S. states and territories and 54 countries throughout the world. What unites alumni in Mongolia and Chile and Abu Dhabi and San Francisco is a deep passion for the work we do as educators and gratitude for the opportunities provided in independent and international schools.
