Founded by John Dewey to test his educational theories. The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools enroll 1720 boys and girls in Nursery-Grade 12 and more than 250 faculty and administration. The schools offer a culturally and racially diverse community within which students actively engage in an academically rigorous, experience-centered education. The program challenges each student to think independently by encouraging the individual's natural curiosity and cultivating his or her love of learning. The college preparatory program includes Advanced Placement courses in most disciplines. Many extracurricular activities and a summer program are available.
The Laboratory Schools is located on the campus of the University of Chicago on the south side of Chicago. It is about 10 minutes from downtown Chicago. Salaries and benefits are highly competitive.
