Job Description/Responsibilities:

Santa Fe Prep seeks its next School Wellness and Mental Health Counselor to help support students and evolve our wellness programming to meet current needs. Our program has historically provided individualized or small group counseling with diverse students in grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will be able to work with students in all grade levels and effectively provide faculty, staff, students, and parents with clinical, therapeutic, and specialized counseling services and mental health referral resources.


This position is integral to our student support (RADAR) Team and provides consultation to administrators, faculty, staff, and parents. Consultations center around some of the following: identifying the mental health and behavioral needs of students; providing crisis-management intervention when necessary; conducting clinical interviews, assessments, and observations; communicating with families about their children and acting as a liaison between the school and home; providing short-term counseling as needed; and much more.  


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a referral list of therapists and local resources for students who may need an assessment and/or long-term therapeutic support

  • Write clinical reports and maintain confidentiality of records relating to students’ treatment

  • Communicate with therapists and other outside professionals about students

  • Assist in the collection and sending of evidence for educational-psychological testing for outside professionals

  • Actively participate in the student support team meetings

  • Problem-solve with teachers, parents, and outside professionals to develop appropriate support and accommodation needs for students with social-emotional challenges

  • Develop and coordinate social and emotional learning plans with teachers

  • Oversee school-wide social-emotional and wellness programs (assemblies, clubs, parent education)

  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences as needed

  • Provide crisis assistance and crisis intervention

  • Teach well-being classes and life skills

  • Other duties as assigned

 
 
Minimum Degree: BA
Certification Required: Yes
Minimum Experience: 5-7 Years

 
Qualifications:

Position Requirements:

  • License Preferred - MSW, LCSW, LMHC, NCC

  • Passion for interacting with children ages 11-18 and supporting adults in the community

  • The desire for a highly collaborative work environment that values innovation and creativity

  • Possess a strong knowledge of the common diagnoses and treatments for school-aged children

  • Familiar with and can implement evidence-based practices in school and mental health counseling

  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, and administrators

  • Strong communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills
