Andrews Osborne Academy (AOA) is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day (PK to grade 12) and boarding (grades 7-12) school near Cleveland, with a beautiful 300 acre campus located in Willoughby, OH. Job Description:

Andrews Osborne Academy is seeking an experienced Upper School History teacher for the current 2022-2023 school year. This is a full-time position and the ideal candidate would have experience teaching History subjects in grades 9-12, including AP curriculum.

The successful candidate must possess the interest and energy to thrive within a lively workplace, a genuine appreciation of adolescents, a sense of humor, the ability to work in a highly collaborative and collegial environment, and possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal..  Candidates should also be comfortable incorporating the use of various technologies to support student learning.

General duties and responsibilities include but are not restricted to the following:


        Teach five (5) classes as assigned by the History Department Chair

        Serve as an advisor to 8-12 students

        Ensure that formal and informal evaluation is occurring sufficiently throughout the academic year in every class taught to allow students, parents, and faculty to get an accurate picture of each student’s understanding of the content

        Teach both critical AND creative thinking skills as they apply to the content area

        Provide narrative comments at selected intervals throughout the year

        Keep online gradebook up-to-date

        Other duties as assigned by the Upper School Director

Minimum Degree: BS
Certification Required: No
Minimum Experience: 0-1 Years




     Experience teaching History at the high school or college level

     A master’s degree is preferred but not required

     Interest and demonstrated skill and enjoyment working with adolescents

     The ability to work as part of a team

     Warmth, sense of humor, and tact

     Ability to collaborate with colleagues

     Strong commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community

     Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents

     High standards of professional conduct
