Biology Teacher
Job Description
St. Andrew’s School develops the independence, character, mind, and spirit of its students to prepare them for lives of citizenship, service, and purpose. Be at the center of this mission by joining the school as a biology teacher, a key member of the science department.
All students live, learn, and play in the natural beauty of our 2,200-acre campus. At the center of our community are curious, motivated, and diverse students who are accepted without regard to their families’ means. Each young person is challenged and valued, and students are truly known by the life-long mentors who teach, coach, and advise them. Human connection, face to face, is the foundation of our program. Friendship and joy define our spirit; “faith and learning” is our motto.
St. Andrew's School seeks a Biology teacher for the 2027-2028 school year to join our Science Department. Our science program aims to inspire curiosity about the natural world and to give students the tools to explore that curiosity. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to strengthen students’ understanding of important scientific principles and concepts in a combination of settings: lecture-discussion, inquiry-driven laboratory demonstrations and investigations, and small group problem-solving. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be a collaborative partner interested in pedagogy, professional development, and an ongoing commitment to cultural competence.
Our biology program is particularly distinguished by its access to our beautiful and ecologically diverse 2,200-acre campus and access to Noxontown Pond. Candidates with the experience and interest to teach chemistry and/or environmental science will be given strong consideration in this search, and candidates should highlight these qualifications in their application.
This position also involves full participation in the extracurricular and student life programs of this residential community.
