Job Description/Responsibilities:
Harvard-Westlake, a coed, independent school in Los Angeles serving nearly 1600 students in grades 7-12, seeks to hire an exceptional and highly qualified full-time Sports Performance Coach. The successful candidate will have the demonstrated knowledge of sport preparation and commitment to continuing education. Must be willing and eager to work closely with sport coaches to create a cohesive training environment for varsity student athletes under their supervision. Recognizing current trends in the field and able to bring those to Harvard-Westlake. Ability to set goals for the athletes that are challenging and realistic. Must have a clear vision for their role and ability to motivate students, coaches and parents to believe in that same vision. Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Director of Sports Performance in all aspects of strength and conditioning activities for students and athletes in grades 7 through 12. Create a safe, welcoming, and challenging environment for middle and high school athletes Design and implement yearly training plans for junior-varsity and varsity high school athletes Collaborate and communicate with sport coaches and Sports Medicine Assist other Sports Performance staff with teaching and coaching exercise technique from multiple disciplines such as weight training, plyometrics, sprinting, agility, and change of direction Teach middle school P.E. classes in the basics of strength training, gymnastics, speed, and agility under the supervision of the Director of Sports Performance.
Minimum Degree: BA
Certification Required: No
Minimum Experience: 1-3 Years

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in exercise science/kinesiology or related field. 3 years’ experience teaching/coaching athletes in strength and conditioning Enthusiasm to become part of the vibrant school community, broadly engaging with students and colleagues and attending events outside of their field of responsibility. Current CPR/First Aid Preferred Qualifications 1-2 years’ experience coaching middle school and/or high school athletes Salary Commensurate with education and experience
