Job Description/Responsibilities:
The Dalton School, a progressive independent K-12 coeducational school in Manhattan, is consistently recognized as one of the top independent day schools in the nation. It has a total enrollment of over 1,300 students, and approximately 350 faculty and staff.

Dalton seeks a physics teacher for the 2020-2021 academic year. Science at Dalton is taught through an inquiry-based approach, with an emphasis on developing scientific habits of mind. These include scientific literacy, data analysis and critical thinking skills. Our ideal candidate enjoys working with students across a wide range of abilities and interests and is committed to their own professional growth. We seek a teacher who is knowledgeable, flexible, collaborative and good at establishing rapport with students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Teach Physics at the high school level
● Design innovative, engaging, and differentiated high school Physics lessons in collaboration with science teachers
● Pursue interdisciplinary opportunities within and beyond Dalton
● Work one-on-one with students daily for support and enrichment
● Engage actively in the equity and diversity work at The Dalton School
● Support the mission of The Dalton School and the Dalton Plan

Minimum Degree: BA
Certification Required: No
Minimum Experience: 3-5 Years

● Ability to work productively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty and student body
● Bachelor’s degree in Astrophysics or Physics required; graduate degree preferred
● Experience working with high school students preferred
● Open-minded, flexible, and adaptable
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
