Harford Friends School, an Applicant Member of the Friends Council on Education, will bring to the community a unique educational program promoting academic excellence by developing the intellectual, spiritual, moral, physical and aesthetic aspects of each individual student.
The school will be characterized by the Quaker belief of ‘that of God in everyone" manifesting itself through the principles of truth, peaceful resolution of conflict, simplicity, respect and community. The school will provide a nurturing and enabling environment in which students exercise their many talents as they learn through discovery and direct instruction. We believe that by finding and developing the good in every child, each may find the paths to becoming a person who strengthens self, the community and the world.
We seek to establish a small, relatively affordable, diverse, co-ed middle school with a rich program of academic and experiential learning. We plan eventually to expand the school to include a K-12 program, preparing students for higher education and life-long learning. Harford Friends School will open in September, 2005 at its temporary location in the Deer Creek Friends Meeting in Darlington, MD, approximately 45 miles from Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
