East New York Village Academy
Village Academy is a new charter school in Harlem, now in its second year, with openings for exceptional faculty in all subject areas. Teaching at Village Academy is an extraordinary opportunity to work in a school that provides unprecedented support, resources, and autonomy for teachers. Faculty will work with a talented team of social entrepreneurs, pursuing groundbreaking work in urban education. The Harlem Village Academy will be the flagship school in the non-profit Village Academies network, which has received significant major grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Walton Family Foundation, Morgan Stanley, and other corporations, the U.S. and NYC Departments of Education, and individual philanthropists. Opened in September 2003, with 5th graders, Village Academy will grow by one grade each year to become a 5th-12th grade college preparatory academy, divided into three small schools. Village Academy’s academic program is rigorous and personalized, based on the best practices of high performing schools. Village Academy aims to develop students of fine character who graduate from college and make a positive contribution to society.
