Alexandria Country Day School is a nonsectarian, coeducational, independent school serving students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The school was founded in 1983 by a group of visionary educators and committed parents dedicated to quality education and interested in providing an environment where children could develop their full potential. In 1991, having grown too large for its original location, ACDS moved into its present facility, the former site of St. Mary's Academy. The school is located at 2400 Russell Road, in a quiet residential neighborhood just north of Old Town, Alexandria. In addition to three levels of classrooms, our building and grounds feature a gymnasium/auditorium, a science laboratory, a library, art and music rooms, a fully equipped and staffed computer laboratory, playgrounds, and a playing field.
Alexandria Country Day School is an accredited member of the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS). The school is also a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the Association of Independent Schools of Greater Washington (AISGW), the Black Student Fund (BSF), the Parents Council of Washington, the Educational Records Bureau (ERB), and the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS).
